$199.00 "Scrub One Off" was inspired by my trip to the 2008 Galax Fiddlers Convention. In it's 73rd year, this place was filled with talent at all ages, from the very young to the very old. In our high tech world it is easy to forget the pure joy that can be found in simpler, traditional culture and lifestyle. Walking from place to place, in the campground, I was mesmerized by the virtuosity of the players and the undeniable beauty of acoustic instruments filling the night air. I found myself watching with quiet fascination the hands and fingers plucking out melody and rhythm, transporting me back to my childhood, listening to my Daddy's Osborne Brothers and Flatt and Scruggs albums on his old console stereo. It is for this reason I chose to focus on the instruments and not on the faces of the players. The pace of life was much slower and simpler then, while today's world seems to spin faster and faster. Somehow things felt more complete in those days, and I fear that we may soon lose our way if we don't take the time to soak in the journey.
